Episode One of Boomtown Podcast

Yeah, I know it’s been a while since I posted the “Episode Zero” of Boomtown, the limited podcast about the B-29 Superfortress crash on April 11, 1950.

Even before the government shutdown – when I had LOTS of time couch-rotting and debating choices I’ve made in my life – I wanted to get this story out in an audio format.

While I love researching and writing books, the audio format is not one I’ve worked with much in my career. I don’t count yelling into the SIN line while on alert as being a “good audio medium.”

So here it is: Boomtown Episode One.

On today’s episode of Boomtown, we’ll discuss what a Broken Arrow is… and isn’t… and talk about the details of the April 11, 1950 crash from the official report.
  1. Episode One – What is a Broken Arrow?
  2. Episode Zero – Introduction to "Boomtown"

If you want to help my research efforts, there’s a Patreon link within the audio file. I won’t make you listen to find the link. It’s right here:

I promise it won’t take me six months to get the next episode out. I had to wait for some “approvals” before hitting publish on this first episode.

For any concerns that I’m just “reading the book,” I’ve decided to slice the episodes up in a way that lets me highlight portions that I could not expand (much) inside the book.

The background and experiences of the crew are essential to the story, so they lead off the series.
